Grenache, Syrah, & Rolle
France, Côtes de Provence
All you need to know is displayed by the quintessential & sought after salmony, rose gold hue of this beautiful Côtes de Provence: a dry, brightness of palate, & crispness of mouthfeel. This wine also has a great freshness that one expects from the appellation & (as we have seen) exemplifies the ever rising demand for these salmon-hued, pale pink mediterranean nectars. This wine maker has demonstrated dexterity in managing to integrate, in a restrained fashion, some interesting fruit (beyond strawberries & cherries) but yet striking that ‘just right’ balance of acidity to stony, minerality. Experimentation with this Provencal Rosé is not really what you want; rather mastery of the form, with a little signature from the wine maker, in the form of a slight, delicate derivation (that sometimes can make all the difference). Here the nose is red fruits, but restrained; with some raspberry, light citrus & even a little peach. The citrusy aspect enhances overall & is such that it discloses the nice acidity & causes the palate & mouth to bristle with anticipation.
The palate is lively & delicious, well balanced flavors of strawberry, blueberry, & orange zest. Beautiful fresh & refreshing finish. A very nice wine for, well, basically everything.
