This young effort by Larner is a cross section of Santa Barbara county grapes. It has fresh red berries on the nose with a touch of clove, & … yes, motor oil. This wine is lean for a Syrah, but that makes it well-balanced, as opposed to the hard charging, Syrah bombs we (as wine drinkers) so often come across. With hints of cured meats, boysenberry, its true to its form with a young elegance.
