Chenin blanc at its best here. If there is anything Sancerre has taught us about the Loire Valley it’s that they make some of the best white wines in the world. A few hundred miles down the river, Savennieres is doing the same with Chenin blanc. This is a great example of a terroir driven white. It’s bone dry, but ever so slightly oxidized showing notes of slightly bruised fruit. It’s mineral, it’s funky, it’s stone fruit, it’s elegant, it’s oh so French.
