France, Burgundy, Cru Beaujolais
Morgon Cru Beaujolais has the reputation of possessing the deepest color & most richness, & Domaine des Marrans does not disappoint with this effort. With semi carbonic fermentation, the wine is still smooth, but fairly full bodied & has some great earthy quality (more than one would expect from a Gamay). Firm mid palate, juicy black cherry, cranberry, & plumb on the palate, the nose comes at you with lots of black cherry, & an evolving smell of earthy vine, & anise. The juicy palate finishes out with a little bit of dry tarragon, & minerality.
