France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur
Monplaisir is a Bordeaux Superieur adjacent to the appellation of Margaux. It is this proximity the prestigious appellation that makes this wine a great value for the money — a rare find in Bordeaux.
In the glass, this wine shows an opaque, dark ruby core with pink and garnet reflections on the rim. The nose is redolent of classic Bordeaux with all the blackcurrants & cherry in harmony with mature notes of leather, tobacco, tar, graphite & crushed rock. The medium-bodied palate has some nice, approachable tannins & is an extension of the notes displayed on the nose, along with some fresh plums, cocoa powder & a nuanced touch of oak.
