France, Loire Valley, Pouilly-sur-Loire
I am going to cut right to the chase: this wine is straight out of 1776. What the hell does that mean, you ask? Well, the nose has an unmistakeable, flintiness, like a Musket was fired into the bottle. So for those looking for Pouilly-Fumé proper, with rich flint on the nose, though still very light & delicate, but with a very distinctive smoky quality. There is also a nice amount of grapefruit up front, with a tart finish.
