California, Paso Robles
Aaron Jackson, though young in years (at least in comparison to some of his contemporaries), has the skill fitting of an advanced craftsman when it comes Paso Robles Petite Sirah. It is amazing how he can make this varietal taste so good, keep it so fresh, producing a wine complex yet easy to drink. A wine at this price point may not seem like a value, but if you are in the market for a serious Paso Petite Sirah, this certainly meets all of the benchmarks but doesn’t stop there. There is an added, fresh perspective or contribution to this varietal, in addition to a quality that would normally demand a significantly higher price point.
Aaron’s flagship wine is always a blend of his very best barrels of Petite Sirah. A blend of 5 vineyards all grown on calcareous/limestone soils, this wine shows deep & dark aromatics of blue & black fruits, peppercorn, bay leaf, & anise. The palate is big, yet maintains some elegance, with blackberry, blueberry, smoked beef, loads of spice, with firm & gravelly tannins.
