Spring Seed Wine Co. Four O'Clock Chardonnay 2008, McLaren Vale, Australia After that cute kangaroo bottle o'wine came out a handful of years back, the U.S. wine shelves were flooded with a hefty dose of fruity, sugary plonk from down under. Unfortunately, like merlot taking a right cross from Sideways, the overall reputation of Australia's winemaking industry was (and remains) damaged. What got lost in a sea of purpley-black shiraz were the boutique wineries and lesser known Australian offerings like this gorgeous, organic, unoaked chardonnay from McLaren Vale. Cowboys vs. Mimes vs. The von Trapps @ The Rose Bowl
Yes indeed, our annual rose tasting is here. This year, it's the Americans against the French against the Austrians. Will the cowboy get his steed? Will the von Trapps find perfect pitch? Will the mime escape the non-existent box? Will the cowboy lasso the mime (and hopefully injure him) while singing Edelweiss? Only YOU can decide.
**some of these roses will only be available the night of the tasting due to limited quantities - selections subject to change depending on trains/planes/automobiles/boats getting to where they need to be in time**

Wine Tasting: ACME Wine Tasting
TONIGHT! Friday, May 15th 5:30-8:30pm (wines by the glass also available from 4:00 to 11pm) $15/person 5 wines and gourmet cheeses from Auntie Em's Marketplace Please RSVP to: info@cowineco.com or (323) 478-1985 Well, after a year or so of tasting themes like "Syrah From Around the World" and "Rhone Whites" we spent the last 2 years christening Friday Night Tasting with some more unorthodox themes like "The 987th Anniversary of the Invention of the Bar Stool" and other subjects that may or may not have been fabricated. Tonight, following in the footsteps of Wile E. Coyote, we are doing our generic ACME Wine Tasting. While the wine lineup tonight is anything but generic, the theme is--because after counting up the weeks we've been holding these tastings, we realized we've created around 130 themes with the help of Wikipedia and a martini here and there and we think we've run out. So come join us tonight as we celebrate the return of one of our favorite value white Burgundies, a Chard/Marsanne/Sauv Blanc blend from Washington, an old standard from Spain, a brand new Chianti and the Old River Road Cab known to many of you as "that wine I buy every week". wines Larochette Manciat Macon Les Morizottes 2007, Burgundy, France Hedges CMS White 2007, Columbia Valley, Washington Crucillon Tinto 2007, Camp de Borja, Spain Lucignano Chianti 2006, Italy Old River Road Cabernet Sauvignon 2005, Sierra Foothills, California
Lazy Sunday Tasting Sunday, May 17th 1-4pm $12/person 4 wines and gourmet cheeses from Auntie Em's Marketplace No RSVP necessary wines (call for other selections)
Wine Cellar Wednesdays Every Wednesday 4-11pm No corkage fee on any bottles in the store! Grab anything off the shelf for the price of the bottle, ask the nice bartender for some glasses, sit, and enjoy
